Abstract:
Accurately predicting two-phase pressure drop in bends is crucial in determining the heat transfer and hydraulic performances of fired heaters that include turnarounds and of shell-and-tube heat exchangers with U-tubes. This report reviews two-phase pressure drop methods in the open literature and in HTRI Xchanger Suite®. We compare these methods with experimental data collected using a 180-degree return on our vertical serpentine test section in the Multipurpose Boiling Unit (MBU).
