RB2-1 Shellside Condensation - Plain Tube (C5) Bundle Pressure Drop Data

This research brief describes additional data supporting the shellside two-phase pressure drop correlation and design methods presented in HTRI Reports TPF-2 and TPF-3. After the issue of the above reports, a new baffled plain tube condenser bundle was tested by HTRI using several different fluids. The comparison of pressure drop data with HTRI methods is described in the following sections. Condensation heat transfer data were also taken and are described in a subsequent Research Brief.

No major modification of HTRI methods was found to be necessary as a result of this evaluation. Minor changes made in the procedure are discussed here.
