HTRI compared fouling rates of a low-sulfur (sweet) crude oil on electropolished stainless steel with those on commercial stainless and carbon steel surfaces. Although the new electropolished surface initially showed less fouling than both commercial surfaces, the extent of the improvement decreased with use.
