PHE-21-TR Liquid Thermal and Hydraulic Performance of Plate-and-shell Heat Exchanger

HTRI conducted water-to-water liquid thermal performance testing in a plate-and-shell heat exchanger (PSHE) provided by Vahterus Oy. This report discusses the test setup and data collection, summarizes the heat transfer and pressure drop results, and correlates the test data against current HTRI methods. Since HTRI currently has limited data related to PSHEs, more data are required for development of general f- and j-factor correlations.
